Raw clay is carefully extracted, then soaked and kneaded—often by foot—to remove air bubbles and achieve a smooth, workable texture.
Guided by the artisan’s hands and the steady rhythm of the wheel, each piece begins to take form. Every curve is shaped with precision, experience, and intuition.
The pieces are left to rest under the Tunisian sun until they reach the perfect “leather-hard” state—firm, yet still ready to be refined.
A first firing, known as the bisque, takes place in traditional kilns. This stage transforms the fragile clay into solid ceramic.
Using fine, hand-held brushes and natural mineral pigments, artisans paint each piece freehand. Every motif reflects the rich visual language of Nabeul.
A final glaze firing brings everything together. Colors deepen and fuse beneath a protective, glass-like surface—creating a durable, food-safe finish designed to last for generations.
